Harpford Village Hall

Harpford Village Hall

Harpford Village Hall is a totally unique and quirky historic building in the centre of Harpford Village.  Due to its unusually cosy size and its pretty interior, Harpford Village Hall offers a warmer and more intimate and friendly space than many halls can offer – seating up to 40 people.  The kitchen is spacious, making catering comfortable and practical with an electric hob and oven, water urns, fridge freezer and other items needed for an event.  Tables and comfortable seating can be arranged as you require.  A new outside decking area is now available for additional space.  We also have internet available and a good mobile phone signal at the Hall.

There is street parking available in front of the hall.

For details of our current rates and to book the hall please contact Ann Woodland on 07957 617072

History

Harpford Village Hall has had an interesting history.  It was built in 1902, a gift from W.P. Branson of Southerton and was erected on a site presented by the vicar to be used for Sunday School and other parochial purposes.  After many years of community use, and some periods of disrepair, the Hall was purchased from the Church by residents and friends of Harpford Village Hall in December 2015 and is now the beating heart of the community.

Harpford Village Hall is a registered charity and is managed by its Trustees – it is not owned by the Newton Poppleford and Harpford Parish Council.

Background

The Village Hall was acquired by the village in 1909, and an extension was gifted to the Parish by local benefactor Willoughby Statham Smith in about 1930. It had originally been built as a Wesleyan Chapel in about 1815. Note that the hall is a separate charity, not owned by the Parish Council.
